PUBLIC STATEMENTTuesday 10th January 2006SELWYN HUGHESCWR announces with much sadness and yet at the same time with a sense of joy that Selwyn Hughes died peacefully yesterday afternoon, Monday 9th January. He was without pain and very peaceful, telling those around him that his life work was complete and that he was ready to go, looking forward with anticipation to meeting his Lord. Over the previous weekend his close family had been able to spend time with Selwyn.We rejoice in knowing that Selwyn has gone to his eternal reward and although we feel sadness, our hearts are filled with gratitude for a life well lived in the service of God and for the spiritual legacy that Selwyn has left with us all. We praise God for every remembrance of Selwyn as a friend, colleague and giant in the faith.A private funeral for family and close friends will be held shortly. At a later date, a larger public thanksgiving service will be held and further details will be available in due course.

- He has been a spiritual father to many, and to me in several ways... some of my spiritual convictions and spiritual burdens have been sowed in my heart by this man, by hearing him preach several times while he was in Singapore... I'm sure many, including me will cherish his teachings for many years to come....

Lord, thank you for this servant of God, Selwyn Hughes..
