COR Youth Track Day cum Family Day! - 16th March 2007

Ever thought of having a taste of how it feels to be a Daytona driver? Have you ever imagined yourself being a racer, driving down the race track, and feeling the exhilaration of the wind blowing at your face?

Ever drove down the expressways of Singapore, thinking to yourself how nice it would be to drive faster than the legal limit, and without all the cars around you, just for the thrill of it?

Presenting to you, COR Youth Track Day cum Family Day 2007!!

Come 16th March 2007, I will be organizing a trip down to Pasir Gudang Race Circuit, where we will be able to drive our personal cars on an actual professional race track! Take the challenge of driving in an actual race track, and see how much of a performance driver you are!

Okok, enough of the sales talk. Let me tell all the wives out there who are saying “no” to their husbands on this… it is actually much safer than driving down CTE. Serious. =) Scroll down to the FAQ for more info.

The goal of this track day, is for us to play play with our cars, and to just have fun driving in a actual race track, and NOT TO RACE EACH OTHER! Take your car there, and see how well it performs on the track. And at the same time, enjoy the breeze. =)

For the wives, or the companions of the drivers, no worries, you are not forgotten! Once we are finished with the race-tracking in the morning, all participants will head down to JB’s latest mega shopping mall, JUSCO, to unwind for lunch, a shop-till-you-drop session, and maybe even a movie show (RM$10 per ticket only!) if enough ppl are interested!

For those who think they don't want to play with their cars in the track, but still interested to come join us to see see look look, and fellowship with us, you are more than welcome! (FYI, Only those who pay can enter the track, but ALL cars can enter the pit stop. )

Program Itinerary:

Time : 9am to late afternoon
Venue : Pasir Gudang Track, JB (10-15 mins drive from checkpoint)
Track Fee : RM60 per hour
0900 - Meet at carpark behind Marsiling MRT
(BE PUNCTUAL, will not entertain LATECOMER)
0915 - latecomers blanja breakfast
0930 - Set off to Pasir Gudang Race Track
(Must allow time for checkpoint jam, and slow convoy speed)
1100 - Arrive in Pasir Gudang Race Track
1100 ~ 1130 - Registration and pay money
1200 - 1300 Start your Engine...Let it Rip
1300 - 1330 Head off to JUSCO (10 mins away)
1330 – 1430 Lunch at JUSCO
1430 – 1630 Free and Easy
1630 – 1730 Return to Singapore

Instructions for all track participants:

1) Please change enough ringgit for track payment, and for the time in JUSCO.
2) All drivers AND passengers in the track must wear a helmet, and must wear covered shoes! (cheap helmets are about S$30 in bike shops)
3) Before going on the track, please clear out all loose items in your car cabin (on that day, anything that can fly will fly: like coins, CDs, etc.. ) as well as big items in your car boot. (there are tables at the pit stop area for you to put your belongings before you go on the track.)
4) Bring plenty of water to drink. It’s going to be hot.
5) We will need walkie talkies for convoy purposes on that day. Please try to borrow a set or 2 sets if you do not own a set. (Motorola walkie-talkies preferred, so that we can all comms using a common channel.)

FAQ:

Why is COR Tracking NOT dangerous?
- There is a difference between tracking and racing. We are not going there to race, but only to play with our cars. So there are certain rules we follow when we do tracking:

1) No overtaking another car unless the car in front signals for you to overtake him. (Car will indicate by moving to the RIGHT of the track, and turning on the hazard lights)
2) At no point in the track must there be any cars travelling side by side. a single car will have rights to the entire breath of the track at all times (meaning you think of the track as a 1-lane road), and overtaking is only allowed if the car allows the car behind to do so.
3) All cars are to keep a minimum distance of 8 car's-length from each other. If you wish to overtake the front car, indicate so by horning. But if the front car does not turn on the hazard light, you are not allowed to overtake.

So, really, chances of collision with another car is even lower than when you drive in the singapore highways... =)

- We need cheerleaders. (kidding!) But honestly, it'll be fun.. =)
